Lawless is a creative project that explores the history and culture of the American West through typography, print, and digital media. This project features a custom-designed typeface inspired by bold, 1860s-era Western lettering, a hand-printed and bound zine, and an interactive PDF experience.
The zine delves into the myths and realities of the Wild West, covering key historical themes such as cattle ranching, mining booms, and the evolving image of the cowboy. With a mix of historical research and striking visuals, Lawless challenges traditional narratives and presents a more nuanced view of the West as a cultural crossroads.
The Lawless typeface is designed to capture the strength and spirit of Western typography while improving readability and contrast. It is intended for use in large, attention-grabbing formats such as posters and digital displays.
This project was produced at the University of North Georgia and showcases a blend of historical storytelling, typographic innovation, and interactive design.
